Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 2026
VP Energy (“we,” “us,” “our”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect through this website, how we use it, and the choices you have.
In short: this site sets no cookies and runs no advertising or analytics trackers. If you use one of our estimating tools, the calculation happens in your own browser. Nothing reaches us unless you fill in the form and press send. We do not sell your information.
1. Notice at Collection — what we collect and why
Information you give us. If you submit one of our forms we collect your name, email address, service address, and — only if you ask to be contacted by phone — your telephone number. We also collect the answers you gave the tool, and the estimate it produced.
Your utility data, if you choose to send it. Depending on the tool, you may upload a photograph or PDF of your electric bill, or a Green Button interval file from your utility. Interval data is detailed. It records electricity use in fifteen-minute steps and therefore reveals patterns about when a household is awake, asleep or away. We treat it accordingly. It is used to size a solar and battery system for your home and for nothing else.
A consent record, if you ask to be called. Where you tick the box authorising calls and texts, we record the date and time, your IP address, your browser's user agent string, the page you were on, and the exact wording shown to you. This exists so that both of us have a reliable record of what you agreed to.
What we do not collect. We do not use cookies. We do not run Google Analytics or any other analytics package. We do not run advertising pixels or trackers. We do not build a profile of you across other websites.
2. Information handled inside your own browser
Our interval-data tools read your file on your own device and perform the calculation there. The file is not transmitted to us at that point, and if you close the page without submitting the form, we never receive it.
If you move from one of our tools to another, your data is carried across using your browser's session storage so that you are not asked to upload the same file twice. That data stays in your browser, is not sent to us, expires after one hour, and disappears when you close the tab. You can clear it at any time by choosing “use a different file” on the page.
3. How we use your information
- To produce the estimate or analysis you asked for
- To contact you about it, if and only as you asked us to
- To design a system for your property, where you request that
- To comply with legal and regulatory obligations
4. Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. There is nothing to opt out of, because we do not do it.
We do share information in these limited circumstances:
- Service providers who host this website or deliver our email, bound to use it only to provide that service.
- Regulators or law enforcement where required by law.
To ask a question about this, or to request that we delete what we hold, call 305.336.2350 or write to the address below.
5. Third parties
This website loads no scripts, fonts or resources from any third party. Typefaces are served from our own domain rather than from a font service, so that no outside party receives a record of your visit.
Some pages link out to your own utility — FPL or SDG&E — so you can download your usage data. Those are separate organisations with their own privacy practices, and we have no control over them.
6. How long we keep it
Lead records and consent records are retained for [RETENTION PERIOD] in order to answer your enquiry, fulfil any work that follows, and evidence the consent you gave. Uploaded bills and interval files are retained for [FILE RETENTION PERIOD]. You may ask us to delete them sooner.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to know what personal information we hold about you, to obtain a copy, to correct it, and to have it deleted. California residents have these rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, including the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them.
To make a request, call 305.336.2350 or write to us. We will verify your identity before acting, and we will respond within the time the law allows.
8. Security
Submissions are transmitted over an encrypted connection. Lead records and any files you send are stored outside the public area of our web server. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Children
This site is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
10. Changes
We may update this policy. The date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
